21st March ’17: Blue & red

Happy Tuesday, lovely Colour Filers ❤️💙
Today feels like a day for blue and red. On the one hand, blue and red is a safe pairing – the colour of school uniforms and conformity. But the right blue and red (cerulean blue and crimson, for example) can be unexpectedly brave and daring (they are, after all, the colours of Wonderwoman and Superman…)
I’ve particularly loved blue and red together ever since I found a cute grosgrain rosette looking sorry for itself at the bottom of a basket of ribbons and trims at – yup, you’ve guessed it – a car boot sale. Like so many of my preloved finds, when I found it I had no idea when or where I’d use it but I knew it would have its day of glory. Well, that day came when an email from @gucci, showcasing its SS17 Web grosgrain bow brooches and Flora tops with Web trim, plopped into my inbox and made me declare, ‘Your time has come, you little beauty!’ It is now attached to my jeans for all the world to see ❤️💙
My blue and red infatuation does, of course, also extend to interiors, whether it’s a happy gaggle of vintage books, a bunch of crimson gerberas in an enamel teapot or @annahaymandesigns glorious Dragonflower fabric which I’m totally in love with and desperate to stroke in its velvet form.
And all of this colour-love borne out of one humble little rosette….(am planning to get some @vvrouleaux grosgrain and create some other coloured ones soon…*swoon*…).
Have a great day, lovely folk.
