10th May ’17: Hand-knit heaven

Happy Wednesday, people ❤️🍅🦊🐱🐸👕👖🌂

I love hand-knits. I think it’s ever since I first saw a @kaffefassettstudio jumper when I was a teenager and fell hook, line and sinker for the explosion of colours and patterns so characteristic of his work. When my second-in-command was born, doll-sized,10 weeks early and in hospital for five weeks, I’d pad along to the WRVS hospital shop and buy up the tiny hand-knitted baby cardigans lovingly knitted by people who still cared about the craft. There were the usual pale lemon and baby blue creations but occasionally there’d be a kapow of colour that would catch my eye – an indigo jumper (that would turn out to look spectacular with his big blue eyes) and a bright red cardie were just a couple of the gems I found. Maybe this early colour immersion helped to instil a love of colour in him, too. Imagine, then, my joy at finding this multicoloured top at Sunday’s car boot sale. I can’t work out whether it’s chic or granny but I’m not one to be told what to do when it comes to colour or clothes so I’ll be wearing it anyway, just so you know. Oh, and it’s helping me in my quest to bleed colour from other things (see yesterday’s blog) by injecting distracting colour into my life elsewhere. Anyway, have a great day.
