1st June ’17: Smart like Valentino

Happy Thursday, guys ❤️💛💚

Apologies for the late show-up but The Colour File is in Devon #bantham where time takes on a different meaning. Having been inspired to look at #ss18@maisonvalentino colours by @mirandadunnlondon (she always manages to signpost some absolute crackers 👍🏻) I couldn’t wait to see what was there. As well as a stunning robin egg blue dress 👗 there was red, yellow and green aplenty (see top left. Also, these #riverisland Gucci-esque mules are a simply stunning way of doing this colour-way #ss17). There’s something timeless and solid yet also uber-sophisticated about this merry trio. The Valentino pic makes me think of my Welsh grandmother who lived next door to me when I was growing up in west London. Although it was the 70s, she still had an Edwardian value system when it came to attire and would wear a dress and carry a smart handbag every day. I recall those times when I’d stand on a chair helping her to make pastry on top of the fridge (it would usually end up grey, as children’s well-worked pastry often does) then her friends would arrive (each as impeccably dressed as her) and they’d eat apple pie with cream and drink tea from china cups (she would never use a mug). I’d sit and listen to them chat in Welsh, thinking how lilting and magical it was. Anyway, have a tip-top day. I’m off to soak up some #Devon colour. I’ll see you in the other side.
