29th May ’17: Hermes scarf memories

Happy Monday, one and all ๐Ÿ‘˜๐Ÿฆ๐ŸฆŠ๐Ÿฆ€โ˜„๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŠ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ€

My mum once told me that when she combed our hair, my brother and I (who were a little on the bohemian side) would question, ‘Who’s coming round?’ Around the same age, I also distinctly remember thinking that when she put on her treasuredย @hermesscarf, it signified that she was going out somewhere special. I loved seeing her in that scarf – the delphinium blue matched her eyes and made them sparkle and shine. Since she is no longer here, I am now custodian of that scarf and I wear it to remember her. A few years ago I went to a Hermes exhibition at theย @saatchi_galleryย and learned just how special these silken squares actually are. Each scarf is designed by artists and individually screen-printed in France using an average of 27 distinct colors. Each colour requires its own screen so the engraving process for one scarf takes around 750 hours. Suddenly, the price makes sense…these really are stunning and intricate works of art. Anyway, I shall show you Mum’s scarf soon but here are some eponymous Hermes orange examples for you to lust over in the meantime. Have a tip-top day.
