2nd June ’17: Pastels & maroon

Happy Friday, my colour-loving chums.

I’ve spoken before about my love of faded colours, and there’s no better place to find these than at the beach. Years, centuries, even millennia, of nature doing its thing (like creating muted sands from a gazillion broken shells) means pale colours are in abundance, like these lemon, pink and hint-of-orange snail shells found by @judett99 at #banthambeach yesterday. What a pleasing collection 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. I think the way to stop muted colours being less ‘baby’s bedroom’ saccharine and more sophisticated is to put them with hints of a darker colour, especially maroon – nature has done this all by itself in these shells and the detailing from a mirrored box I bought (bottom right) shows how humans can achieve it, too. I love the effect and will be showing you more of the pastel and maroon thang soon. Have a great Friday, colour-peeps.
