11th July ’17: Red, white and blue

Happy Tuesday, folks ❤️🐑💙⛑🐇👕

On Saturday, my second-in-command and I went to @gucci at @theofficialselfridges. Having lusted after their clothes from afar for many months (and put them in several of my montages), I finally got to see them in real life. They are even more stunning in the flesh and I could barely contain my excitement (think ‘child being told they can fill their boots in a toy shop’, AND I wasn’t even taking anything home). I loved this bold yet romantic red, white and blue ruffled blouse. I have a soft spot for this colourway, possibly from living in Portsmouth as a trainee newspaper reporter, surrounded by Union Jacks and all things nautical (this graffiti in central London caught my eye, too, and I always enjoy saying ‘hello again’ to this figurehead in #Bantham). I loved covering stories on HMS Victory – chatting to the Commanding Officer in Nelson’s wood-lined onboard office (I often pondered ‘What would Nelson have said about the computer on his grand desk?’) and standing on deck while the crew of a passing ship assembled to salute her (Victory is the oldest commissioned warship so commands the greatest respect). So memorable. Have a tip-top day and I’ll see you soon.
