9th August ’17: Jelly Baby baby

Happy Humpday, pals.

When it comes to food, my top three goes like this: 1) cheese, (any kind); 2) yoghurt (any kind); and 3) jelly sweets (erm, any kind?). However, there’s a special, nostalgic place in my heart for jelly babies (as these plush Baby Bonny toys at Cadbury World yesterday, top left, reminded me: pale pink since they went ‘natural’ with colourings in 2007. How I miss those vibrant shades). I was completely and utterly addicted to them when I was expecting my second-in-command. As proof, i even stuck an empty packet in a diary I wrote for him before he was born. In it, I confess about my habit but then petition that ‘food isn’t just for sustenance, it’s about pleasure, too, so perhaps you get a ‘feel good’ moment when Mummy eats them and really relishes the experience.’ Nice try. These days my ‘spin’ tactic is to insist on trying one of his chips or sweets to ‘make sure they’re not poisonous’. Note: if you’re going to do it, it’s worth sampling two ‘in case there’s a bad batch’…Feel free to return for parenting tips any time. You’re welcome. See you later.
