27th August '17: Typewriter tales

Happy Sunday from a tent in Cheshire ⛺️⛺️⛺️
Yesterday, my second-in-command asked me what kind of computer and phone I had as a kid. ‘Ummm, kind of non-existent ones,’ I said. Now, I’m not entirely ancient but even in 1992 when I trained as a newspaper reporter,
we were taught to write on typewriters as well as computers, just in case we ended up working in some far-flung outpost of a local rag that still considered a quill the height of modernity. I never had to use one which means when I see an old one like this (top left) I can marvel at its beauty rather than thinking of the frustrating (and inevitable) wastepaper basket full of copy that wasn’t quite letter-perfect. Anyway, have a tip-top day. I’m off to find tea and toast.
