17th October '17: Penelope Pink

Welcome to Tuesday.

I was recently reunited with my birthday cards from when I was a little girl (read ‘found them in a shoebox in the attic whilst searching for something else entirely.’) I think their vintage daintiness and clever colours is utterly charming. Much as I adore my beloved @farrowandball Off Black backdrop, this greetings card haul made me think how perfect they’d be against a more subtle background. @grahamandbrown happened to let me know about Penelope Pink, their 2018 colour of the year (paler than so-called ‘millennial pink’ and named after the Greek goddess, not, as I thought, Thunderbirds’ gutsy Lady Penelope) and sent me a tin to try out. Cue great excitement at Colour File HQ. So I painted pretty Penelope behind one of my shelves (fear not, the one above is still black) and here she is providing a dainty backdrop to what I’m calling ‘The 3rd birthday shelfie’. I’m a fan and feel she may be featuring elsewhere in Colour File HQ as part of an exciting new venture with @psychologiesmagazine, starting in the not too distant future. Watch this space…In the meantime, what are your thoughts on Penelope and pale pink in general?
